EDUCATION

Academic Freedom | Scholastic Achievement | Professional Integrity
The opportunities for learning in the industrial setting a growing rapidly but a lot of professional knowledge is siloed by the industrial setting employers or presented without industrial ATs in mind. In addition, industrial clinical experience is not yet a standard part of Athletic Training education meaning that the likelihood of practice gaps for new ATs in the industrial setting is high. We promote the continued growth of the Athletic Training profession by supporting a strong foundation of high-quality education and continued learning.
Our Education & Professional Development Committee drives quality of education across the organization. From providing monthly continuing education for IATS members to running our Journal Club, the Education committee strives to make professional development friction free. The committee also oversees educational content across the other committee and continuing education the annual Virtual Networking Summit, Heat Hazard IQ, and other educational programs.
The Next Education Committee Meeting is on March 11th, 2026 at 7pm Central. Meeting links are in the Member community on Discord

Regulatory & Organizational Readiness: Adaptations to Legislative Changes With Injury Prevention Programming
Recent legislative and regulatory developments at the federal, state, and international levels are reshaping how organizations are expected to identify, assess, mitigate & prevent work-related musculoskeletal disorders. While ergonomics has historically been treated as a best practice or advisory discipline under the “General Duty Clause”, emerging policies increasingly position MSD prevention and ergonomic risk assessment as enforceable components of occupational health and safety programs.
This continuing education session will provide Industrial Athletic Trainers with a practical overview of evolving ergonomics-related legislation, standards, and enforcement trends, including how risk assessment, documentation, and intervention strategies are being scrutinized during audits, inspections, and litigation. Participants will explore how regulatory expectations intersect with ergonomic assessments, job task analysis, early reporting systems, and injury prevention programs as well as learn how to align ergonomic initiatives with organizational compliance goals, reduce MSD-related costs, and demonstrate due diligence in worker protection.
