Shared Governance | Civic Engagement | Continued Advancement
As an emerging practice in the Athletic Training profession, the industrial setting still strives for total recognition in occupational health. Though many states have passed legislation to give American workers access to the full scope of athletic training care, some states still lag behind best practices. In addition, employment opportunities are obscure and employee agency murky. In a collaborative environment, IATS promotes civic engagement and AT empowerment across the country to foster professional growth and job transparency.

193
employer reviews.
Thank you to all who took our 2024-2025 Employer Review Survey. We collected a whopping 193 results reviewing employment in the industrial setting. In July 2025, IATS will publish a short report of general information for the public to understand what they can expect when accepting an industrial job. By the end of the year we will have detailed information compiled for our members so that they can have a leg up on employer negotiations.
Call to Athletic Training Education Programs
Introducing athletic training students to the industrial setting gives them the opportunity to learn more about the profession of athletic training and the opportunities for practice advancement.
If you are an athletic training program that would like an industrial AT to talk to your class, we are here to help! Email Us and tell us what you're looking for! Ideally, we can send a representative from within our organization but if we have an external contact that will meet your needs, we'll put you in contact with them.
Are you an AT Student Looking for a Clinical Opportunity?
The search for an industrial AT internship can seem daunting, but it is a very valuable way to use one of your internship slots and we appreciate your interest. Though the benefits of this setting are widely known (high pay, predictable hours, autonomy), the setting is still challenging and there is no better way to learn about those challenges that experiencing it for yourself. Higher paying industrial employers typically look for experienced ATs so an industrial internship can not only increase your chances of getting the job, but open you up to a higher pay band.
Industrial sites differ from each other just as much as different sports do. Obtaining an industrial internship can help you learn which clients you would want to (or would not) work with. We have identified organizations with preceptorships to help you hopefully find an internship that works for you.
